And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive Him, because it isn’t looking for Him and doesn’t recognize Him. But you know Him, because He lives with you now and later will be in you. No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you. John 14:16-18 NLT
Thank You Holy Spirit! Our comforter! Before Jesus went to the cross, He spent a lot of time with His disciples and opened His heart to share many things with them. During His last crucial hours with His closest followers—whom He called “friends”—He talked a lot about Holy Spirit. He wanted His disciples to know they would not be alone even though He was leaving them.
After Jesus was raised from the dead, when His distraught disciples were huddled inside a house with the doors shut, Jesus appeared to them. After He showed them His pierced hands and the wound in His side, He breathed on them!
John 20:22 TPT Then, taking a deep breath, He blew on them and said, "Receive Holy Spirit"
We often think Holy Spirit was first given on the Day of Pentecost, but that experience was the disciples’ second encounter with Holy Spirit. Their first introduction occurred Sunday evening of the Resurrection. The Helper had come, just as Jesus had promised!
We have been given an amazing gift. When Holy Spirit came to dwell in us, He brought the eternal life of God. He gives us the very breath of heaven. He infuses us with God’s presence. And more than that, He sets up eternal residence in us so we will never feel alone. When we ask Jesus into our life, we receive the gift of Holy Spirit. He lives in you; so wherever we go, Holy Spirit is right there with us, reminding us what is true and guiding us toward salvation.
