Now I want to make clear for you, brothers and sisters, the gospel that I preached to you, that you received and on which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold firmly to the message I preached to you – unless you believed in vain. For I passed on to you as of first importance what I also received – that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the scriptures. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 NET
Jesus is the hope of the world. The cross of Jesus Christ is central to His Church. And while the cross was the instrument of death, it is the very instrument that brings us new life. At the feet of Jesus is where we find our [new] identity. As Christians, we want to be known as “the people of the cross”. We exist to make the name of Jesus famous among all for we are most satisfied in Him when He is most glorified through us.
And when Jesus is our everything, people are therefore our heart, because people are His heart. {tweetme}If God so loved the world, so must we. {/tweetme}Let us not be so caught in our own brokenness that we are a people who avoid the broken; we want to be people who run towards the broken. When others look over people in need, we will stop and show mercy because the Lord of all is the perfect example of loving humanity. God sees us because He's looking for us and is moved to compassion when we at last call out to Him! Jesus saves us, and restores us, and then it's our turn to care for others. Are you someone who is moved with compassion for other people and their circumstance? Their emotional well being? Their spiritual good health? How is your love leading you to action? Love should always lead to action
