On one occasion, Jesus was preaching to the crowds on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. There was a vast multitude of people pushing to get close to Jesus to hear the word of God. He noticed two fishing boats at the water’s edge, with the fishermen nearby, rinsing their nets. Jesus climbed into the boat belonging to Simon Peter and asked him, Let Me use your boat. Push it off a short distance away from the shore so I can speak to the crowds. Luke 5:1-3 TPT
“How do you catch fish? You stand in a fishing boat and cast a net made up of string.”
“How do you catch souls? Casting a different type of net, one made out of God’s words”
And we learn too that everywhere Jesus goes, He is teaching and preaching— and so it is as Holy Spirit urges, if we want to catch souls for God, we too must expose others to the Word of God!
Share the Bible often, rest on God’s truths spoken in every verse, and use the Bible appropriately, never forgetting that even the most skeptical audience knows a lot more about God than they like to admit.
And when we don’t know what to do what to say, we must look ahead, past the mountains, resting our eyes on Jesus, who took men skilled in catching fish—fish that didn’t want to be caught—and taught them instead to catch men and women who didn’t want to be found!
Hallelujah!
