Seek the LORD while He makes Himself available; call to Him while He is nearby!  Isaiah 55:6 NET

Have you ever paused a moment and recognized just how incredible the gifts of God’s truth, forgiveness, restoration, and eternal life really are!

Lies imprison.  They lock us in a cycle of cover-ups, addictions, shame, and isolation. Truth has the opposite effect. It’s not restrictive or oppressive; it’s actually freeing.

John 8:31-32 NIV To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Did you catch that? Knowing the truth sets us free! This freedom results from our close proximity to and trust in Jesus Christ HE IS the truth!  (the Truth).

See, walking in truth is not just adhering to a list of rules; it’s enjoying a relationship with the Savior, with the liberator of captives Himself.

Luke 4:18 NIV The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.

Do you ever wonder these days where the truth is? With all the fake news and different opinions literally flying in and out of our lives, where seems like each “side” has their own version of truth and idea of what we should believe. It can be frustrating, scary, and confusing to navigate all the supposed facts we are constantly bombarded with.

But that is nothing new in the history of man. Think about it, 2,000 years ago Pilate, the Roman governor who questioned Jesus at His trial, felt this tension and in exasperation exclaimed, “What is truth?”

John 18:37-38 CSB You are a king then?” Pilate asked. “You say that I’m a king,” Jesus replied. “I was born for this, and I have come into the world for this: to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to My voice.” “What is truth?” said Pilate. After he had said this, he went out to the Jews again and told them, “I find no grounds for charging Him.

What Pilate didn’t realize was that he was literally staring Truth in the face.

Because, Jesus, in John 14:6, claims to be the way, the truth, and the life.  Meaning truth is not just a “what,” but a “who.”

Truth has a name and a face, and that name is Jesus Christ!  Mind blowing isn’t it!

We can wonder too at How can Jesus so boldly claim to be the Truth? Well, truth is defined as that which is consistent with the original or with reality.

John 1:1 CSB In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

What does this mean? Jesus was with God in the beginning, He is God! Therefore, Jesus, more than anyone or anything else, ever, is consistent! He has been here and there, then and now, from the very beginning.
