My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken. On God my salvation and my glory rest; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God. Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Psalms 62:5-8 NASB
The enemy stomps around this world wanting us to buy into a view of life characterized by it’s slogans of “you are the master of your fate” “You have little to rely on other than the wisdom that you’ve collected over the years” - to this we pray Jesus, come, forgive us, set us on the right path, the narrow path, amen!
Looking inward relying on self is a scary “you against the world” way of living, yet when we acknowledge and receive Jesus as our Saviour we are welcomed into God’s family, and He turns all of the enemy’s lies upside down. God not only forgives our sins and guarantees us a seat in eternity, but welcomes us to a radically new way of living.
This new way of living with Jesus is not just about submitting to God’s moral code. No, it is also about God covenantally committing Himself to be with us forever, Holy Spirit unleashing His wisdom, power, and grace so that we can willingly leave the “what if’s” behind for our eternal good.
Think about this. God. The One who created and controls the world, the One who is the ultimate definition of what is loving, true, and good, and the One who alone has the power to finally defeat sin has chosen, because of His grace, to wrap His arms of faithful love and protection around His people, and He will not let go.
