He said, The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge; My Saviour, You save me from violence. I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, And I am saved from my enemies. For the waves of death encompassed me; The floods of destruction terrified me; The ropes of Sheol surrounded me; The snares of death confronted me. In my distress I called upon the Lord, Yes, I called out to my God; And from His temple He heard my voice, And my cry for help came into His ears. 2 Samuel 22:2-7 NASB
My friends, may we unashamedly call out to Jesus, and accept His invitation to gather around His table, in constant conversation. He teaches us our purpose in becoming God’s warriors, gatekeepers, His watchmen and therefore our paths are actually the roads the Lord puts us on to be part of His salvation plan for all His people.
Could you imagine the revival in our families, our communities, in our own lives if we walked within God’s will and see with Holy Spirit’s discernment that He offers salvation to everyone we meet!
And while we understand that only God can save, of course, God uses us as instruments to share His saving message That God sent Jesus Christ into this world to save mankind, each and every one of us a sinner yet forgiven by the sacrifice of God….. The Gospel….we are known by Jesus, called to stop floundering in the ways of this dark world and join with Christ, with the same purpose in mind.
1 Peter 2:6-10 NASB For this is contained in Scripture: “Behold, I am laying in Zion a choice stone, a precious cornerstone, And the one who believes in Him will not be put to shame.” This precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for unbelievers, “A stone which the builders rejected, This became the chief cornerstone,” and, “A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense”; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this they were also appointed. But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
Whoa! Did you catch that! A chosen people! because we are His sons and daughters who acknowledge and accept Jesus Christ as the risen Saviour…. we are given mercy from our Heavenly Father. We receive Holy Spirit’s wisdom when we trust in Jesus, we receive His word and get to then proclaim this truth by reaching UP to God in worship and by reaching OUT to the world with the Gospel. Jesus Christ.
Hallelujah! Every Christian brother and sister’s purpose is to live a life that directs people to Jesus Christ. Thank You Holy Spirit! What a revelation, this life is not about me, it is about Jesus. We cant begin to understand the magnitude, the importance of seeking Jesus, serving Jesus and sitting with Jesus. God has limitless plans for each of us - thats you - us here at Gospel Garage - the people we walk past in the park - everyone! and the part we are all to play for His kingdom is specific to each one who answers His call!
Writing these notes i had a moment of questioning. - what are we supposed to do do when put in a position where we don’t actually know what to do or what to say…. And the answer?
Please, please, ask Holy Spirit, He will give us the wisdom to do what is right in God’s sight and the knowledge of what to say. Holy Spirit will remind us to look ahead, past the obstacles, and rest our eyes on Jesus Christ, teaching those who have put their trust in Him how to reach out to people who don’t want to be found with the mercy and grace God so freely offers each of us. It’s standing on the hilltop with Jesus at your side scanning the horizon and accepting God’s will for the road ahead.
