And they approached the village where they were going, and He acted as though He were going farther. But they urged Him, saying, “Stay with us, for it is getting toward evening, and the day is now nearly over.” So He went in to stay with them. When He had reclined at the table with them, He took the bread and blessed it, and breaking it, He began giving it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight. Luke 24:28-31 NASB
Let’s ask Holy Spirit to sit with us, to teach us, to explain the parts we don’t get, to give us wisdom as we read the history of Jesus’s life walking among his people, pray for understanding about who Jesus Christ was - is and will always be and be ready because Holy Spirit will share knowledge on Jesus and:
His Great Power.
His Eternal Glory.
His Infinite Wisdom.
His Unwavering Faithfulness.
His Perfect Righteousness.
His Immense Patience and His heart of love for each of us,
We’ve been busy this week, I’m pretty sure you have too, and even though we don’t watch the news in our home - I too easily get caught up in headlines on a TV at the gym with a news channel running steadily….. So I challenge us each to keep our eyes on Jesus, to find peace in the midst of this upcoming week.
Ask Jesus to sit in the living room with you, in fact trust Him to be wherever you are seated- the driver’s seat with us as His passengers! Yes Lord thank You for that thought!
Wow isn’t that awe inspiring! Because my friends, you are loved more than you could ever know. And God wants to hold us close! Holy Spirit looks forward to sitting with us. Having a conversation through prayer.
JESUS IS WITH US AND HE WANTS TO BE WITH US!
Revelation 3:20 NASB Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.
There is an invitation we receive from Jesus Christ the day we give our lives to Him, an invite to walk with Him, to meet Him in every step we take, and to follow His road. And in this journey of faith, we cannot only walk or run, but we need to take time to sit down to receive His peace, to trust Him.
It’s like - The interesting thing about the road and the table is that there is no road without a table to get to, and there is no table without a road taking us there…. Many times when we are following Jesus, we only focus on walking, on doing, on reaching, and we forget that our strength is actually found in the calm and satisfaction that comes from sitting with Him.
It is there, seated at the table, where Jesus points us again and again to our Heavenly Father and reminds us that even amid difficulties and gray days, He is with us.
