We all experience times of testing, which is normal for every human being. But God will be faithful to you. He will screen and filter the severity, nature, and timing of every test or trial you face so that you can bear it. And each test is an opportunity to trust Him more, for along with every trial God has provided for you a way of escape that will bring you out of it victoriously.  1 Corinthians 10:13 TPT

When we mess up, so many of us feel shame and allow that to hold us back from God. The further we run, the further we feel from Him and often from others too because we feel like no one else would understand what we’re going through.

But it doesn’t have to be that way! We can run to Jesus because He understands exactly where we’re at and has grace to empower us to change AND we can be honest with others because we all face temptations and trials, yet are victorious when our hearts belong to Jesus.

When we feel distant, when we feel disappointed, when we’ve  messed up and when we don’t understand what’s going on. He is our refuge.

When we have learned to run to Him with praise, honor, trust in these moments, we will grow closer to Jesus than ever before!

Psalms 103:1-5 NIV  Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all His benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

PRAISE is something we are super passionate about at Gospel Garage! because we know it’s not just what God deserves, but it’s also powerful to change us!

The Bible uses so many different words in reference to praise, like:

Glorify (Psalm 147:12),

Sing (Psalm 30:12),

Speak (Psalm 34:1),

Shout (Psalm 47:1),

Clap your hands (Psalm 47:1),

Dance (Psalm 150:4),

Play music (Psalm 150),

Boast about (Psalm 34:2),

Give thanks (Psalm 107:1),

Declare (Philippians 2:11),

Have joy (Psalm 98:4), and so many more!

Let’s agree to read the Bible this week as often as there are moments! And look up these aforementioned verses Holy Spirit shared!

It really doesn’t matter if the week is over scheduled or if you are sailing through a pretty easy season or struggling through some mud. Praise Him.

I don’t praise because of how I feel, I praise because of Who I believe, and when we praise over our problems like these verses instruct, it almost always changes the way that we feel and the perspectives that had turned our eyes away from Jesus.

Can I encourage you? Living as a worshipper is not about having a perfect life. You and I don’t grow in God because we always get things right, but because we let Him into every part of our lives - even the mess! REAL worship from the heart is about running to Him and choosing to worship no matter what is happening.
