Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of His household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the chief cornerstone. In Him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in Him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by Holy Spirit.  Ephesians 2:19-22 NIV

Have you met Jesus? Whoa He is amazing grace He is all that is all that was all that will be!

Welcome to a journey of putting Jesus over everything and living a life of worship. This is the perfect place for us to start - by really focusing on knowing God personally. One of the greatest things we can believe is that we are known by God and that He wants to be known by us! He wants to invite you to get to know Him for yourself, by experience, based on what He says about Himself in the Bible.

I don’t know if you have ever thought about this or seriously asked yourself this question, but who do you really think God is? I mean, deep down in your heart, who is God to you? This question is actually really important because so many things in our daily journey are determined by our answer to it.

In Matthew 16, Jesus asked His disciples a similar question: “Who do people say that I am?”

I know who the Bible says God is and that who He is doesn’t change, but who He is to each of us, to you will determine the way we live, the way we pray and the decisions we make.

Matthew 16:13-16 TPT When Jesus came to Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples this question: “What are the people saying about Me, the Son of Man? Who do they believe I am?” They answered, “Some are convinced You are John the Baptizer, others say You are Elijah reincarnated, or Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.” “But you—who do you say that I am?” Jesus asked. Simon Peter spoke up and said, “You are the Anointed One, the Son of the living God!”

It’s like when the teacher asks you a question in class and it’s obvious they already know the answer. Jesus wasn’t asking because He didn’t know, and He wasn’t asking because He had identity issues or was feeling insecure and needed the squad to hype Him up.

He didn’t need them to believe in Him so He could feel good about Himself. He knew exactly who He was, but He also knew that who He was ’to them’ changed everything for them. To some He was just a good man, but to others He was the Son of God. Who they knew Him to be determined the way that they received Him.

So, who is God? Think about it for a second, because we are actually living out of our answer to that question. I can’t afford for my understanding or perception of Him to be based off someone else’s stories or things I’ve just heard about Him. No my friends, we need understanding to come out of what Holy Spirit reveals in the Word of God.

Read the Bible - ask Holy Spirit to reveal the truth of who God is so that you can come to know Him closer for yourself. Living a life of worship is all about really knowing God.

Putting Jesus over everything is all about living your life to know God and worship Him. Now that we’ve started that journey, I want to show you how that starts changing how you see everything else. When you find out who He is - you find out who you are… and who you are, is His!

Here’s what the Bible wants to shows us: we belong to God. When Jesus died for you on that cross - it wasn’t just a demonstration of His love, it was a powerful transaction that took place. He was paying for you with His blood, ‘buying back’ your freedom from sin, so that you might belong to God. Like what 1 Cor 6:19-20 says, “You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price…”

God made us and Jesus paid for us, but you and I still need to make the personal decision to give ourselves to Him. That’s a big part of what a daily life of worship looks like - giving yourself to God.

Galatians 5:24-25 TPT  Keep in mind that we who belong to Jesus Christ have already experienced crucifixion. For everything connected with our self-life was put to death on the cross and crucified with Messiah. If the Spirit is the source of our life, we must also allow the Spirit to direct every aspect of our lives.

Most people around us in our world are all about their rights, their identity, their future and everything that matters to them. But the Bible shows us that those who belong to Jesus actually make the decision to give up living for those things so that we can make our life all about Him. In other words, we don’t just invite Jesus to be our Saviour, but to be the ‘Lord’ of our lives too. He is control. I belong to Him! So does my past, my present, my future, my body and all of my decisions. And because I belong to Him, I get my identity, value and purpose from my relationship with Him.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 TPT Have you forgotten that your body is now the sacred temple of the Spirit of Holiness, who lives in you? You don’t belong to yourself any longer, for the gift of God, Holy Spirit, lives inside your sanctuary. You were God’s expensive purchase, paid for with tears of blood, so by all means, then, use your body to bring glory to God!

How would we live today if we were living it as a gift of worship to God? How would we respond and what decisions would we make if it was all for Him? Let’s give ourselves over to Him.

Let's be real. Not everything in life is perfect. Today’s headlines hardly offer Straight facts. And… not everything in this Christian life is perfect either. Because we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, you and I stand with Him before God, but the reality of life is that our thoughts, habits, actions and reactions are still being refined, corrected, perfected and the other people we encounter daily are still not exactly perfect either. Basically what I’m saying is - even when we’re living for Jesus, stuff happens.

Thank You God for mercy. Sometimes other people cause the stuff, but often we ourselves are part of causing it as well because we all mess up.

Psalms 46:1 TPT  God, you’re such a safe and powerful place to find refuge! You’re a proven help in time of trouble— more than enough and always available whenever I need You.

One of THE GREATEST responses we can learn in living a life of worship, is that when the stuff happens - run TO God, not FROM God. Our worship is not just a response when good things happen or when we feel like we are doing good. It’s the response we need to learn when we’re right in the middle of a mess as well.

We need to learn to run to Jesus in worship because He is our Refuge and Help and has exactly what we need for whatever we’re facing.
