Then I heard a triumphant voice in heaven proclaiming: Now salvation and power are set in place, and the kingdom reign of our God and the ruling authority of His Anointed One are established. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who relentlessly accused them day and night before our God, has now been defeated —cast out once and for all! Revelation 12:10 TPT
When Jesus exchanged our sin for His righteousness on the cross, He made us brand new. Who we were before has no bearing on who we are now. We are God’s children, wholly forgiven, covered by grace, empowered to do great work for His glory. This alone should inform our identity. The voice of shame that contradicts that truth is simply a lie.
When our blameless Savior took on the cross to pay for our sin, He showed us perfect love. The power of that love defeated all the side effects of sin and darkness in the world, including fear.
Through His ultimate display of love on the cross, Jesus claimed victory over fear, and He invites us to share in that victory. He wants us to live with peace in our mind, heart, and spirit. But it’s up to us to receive and walk in the victorious power of His love.
In Romans 8:38, the apostle Paul said he was convinced that nothing could separate us from the love of God. We, too, have the opportunity to be that unshakeably confident in God’s love for us and abide in the peace provided by that love. If you ever have a moment where you question the extent of God’s love for you, all you have to do is look to the cross.
When fear comes knocking, we have a choice to make: Let it overtake us, or remember Jesus’ victorious act of love and choose to believe that He has won the battle for our peace. When everything seems to be going wrong in this world, stand firm on the truth that fear has no power over us. Claim His peace, and walk forward in confidence that you are fully covered by His love!
Pilate gathered together the people, the high priests, and all the religious leaders of the nation. He told them, “You have presented this man to me and charged Him with stirring a rebellion among the people. I have examined Him here in your presence and have put Him on trial. My verdict is that none of your charges against Him are true. I find no fault in Him. Luke 23:13-14 TPT
Today, followers of Jesus all over the world are celebrating Easter week. While many of us are used to going to church on Resurrection Sunday with masses of other believers, we may find ourselves instead confined at home this year. This should not deter us from celebrating the good news of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. Two thousand years ago, Jesus claimed victory over sin and death by rising from the dead. He is our everlasting hope. Even in the midst of trials and trouble, Jesus teaches us to hold on tightly to His victory and celebrate together. As we go into Easter Sunday, know that there are millions of followers of Jesus celebrating His resurrected life today in unison. Hallelujah! Praise the One who sets us free!
John 14:27 TPT I leave the gift of peace with you—my peace. Not the kind of fragile peace given by the world, but my perfect peace. Don’t yield to fear or be troubled in your hearts—instead, be courageous!
Take a deep breath, in the quiet or noise of where you are at right now and step towards Easter remembering what God says about you, His beloved child, and take captive any thought that doesn’t align with His Word. Remember the unending true love Jesus Christ has for each of His people.
