May the LORD our God be with us, as He was with our ancestors. May He not abandon us or leave us. 1 Kings 8:57
Emmanuel, wow, it’s extremely humbling to know God is with us. This name...the intimacy and love it conveys...it overwhelms me. Emmanuel is not a far-off thought.
He is with us, cares for us and desires to have a relationship with us. He has come, and He will come again. Yes my friends, gather your thoughts, the thing of this world is trying to scatter them, allow Holy Spirit to sooth and quiet with His wisdom, His companionship.
“Fall on your knees, O hear the angel voices..."
In small ways throughout the Advent season, we must seek to hush our hearts, to worship and listen.
But Being humble and listening are not qualities our society usually elevates. Rather It's all too often about making sure your voice is heard and that everyone knows you are the greatest, decorate your tree the greatest, give the greatest gifts, cook the greatest turkey dinner.
But let’s lay that aside. By humbling, bowing, the shepherds declared that Christ is Lord.
May our lives reflect the same this Christmas season.
