Don’t keep hoarding for yourselves earthly treasures that can be stolen by thieves. Material wealth eventually rusts, decays, and loses its value. Instead, stockpile heavenly treasures for yourselves that cannot be stolen and will never rust, decay, or lose their value.  Matthew 6:19-20 TPT

John 8:12 NET Then Jesus spoke out again, “I am the light of the world. The one who follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

When Mary became pregnant, Joseph was uncertain to say the least. God’s angel warrior went to Joseph, as he had Mary. In Joseph’s dream, the angel revealed that the birth of Jesus would fulfill centuries-old prophecy and end the separation that had existed between God and man since the first sin in the Garden of Eden.

Joseph learned that Jesus would be “God with us.”

I am so very sorry God, how easy it can be to forget this truth! Forgive us for the times we wander away, looking to the left or right, or even behind us instead of our gaze fixed on the horizon, Jesus Christ.

We read in Exodus, long before the birth of Jesus, that Moses had to wait for God to speak to him on a mountaintop, through a burning bush.

Exodus 3:4 NET When the LORD saw that he had turned aside to look, God called to him from within the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.”

At that time, mankind did not have constant access to an intimate relationship with God. We all falter, Sometimes, it can be easy to slip into this old mentality of communicating with God.

How often do we still ask for our own burning bush, wishing for an explicit, tangible sign or a clear word from Him? Even as Christians, we can start to believe God is far away when it feels like we’re waiting and waiting to hear from Him.

We need to remember that by the birth of Jesus He has bridged the gap between us and God. He is God’s answer to our desire for a burning bush or a mountaintop conversation with Him. We don’t worship a distant God who doesn’t want to speak to us!

Jesus has restored our relationship with Him and made a way for us to daily approach His throne with boldness.

This Christmas season, find comfort in knowing that God is with you. He hears your prayers, and He is for you. If God can mend our broken relationship with Him, think of what He can and will do in our lives and on our behalf!

God’s freely offered gift of salvation never breaks, wears out, or goes out of style.

Clothes wear out and go out of style. Toys break or get donated. Candy gets eaten. But If you have chosen to accept Christ as your Saviour, then you have already received the best gift anyone could ask for.

And If you haven’t done that, consider making this Christmas the day you accept His gift.

Invite Jesus into your life, trust Him, pray these words:  Jesus, we love You, we want to walk with You. Thank You for being the greatest gift ever given to humanity. I know I need the gift of salvation because I have messed up and can’t fix it on my own. Come into my heart and save me. Help me to learn about You and follow You. Thank You for Your love, friendship and grace. Amen.
