As for us, we have all of these great witnesses who encircle us like clouds. So we must let go of every wound that has pierced us and the sin we so easily fall into. Then we will be able to run life’s marathon race with passion and determination, for the path has been already marked out before us. Hebrews 12:1 TPT
If we are to guard our hearts against potential spiritual blockages, it’s so important to know what those blockages are. Here are a few I try to always be mindful of …
Boredom. Don’t let boredom lull you to sleep. We must remain bold and adventurous in our faith, in our work God’s kingdom.
Disobedience. Even in seemingly insignificant and small things, take steps every day toward fulfilling your spiritual destiny by choosing to hear and obey the voice of God and His Word.
Familiarity. Don’t let familiarity become your comfort. Maintain an attitude of gratitude and thanksgiving for who God is, all that He has done, and all He continues to do.
Discontent. Don’t let your eyes be distracted. Fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith. No other person or thing can satisfy us in the same way.
Laziness. Engage your life in the cause of Christ. When our hearts are full of zeal for the Lord, even the most mundane good tasks can become deeply fulfilling.
Recognizing and removing blockages from our hearts can be difficult and painful, but as we do it, we will live the abundant life Jesus came to give us!
