I will never forget Your precepts, for by them You have revived me. Psalms 119:93 NET
(note to self) we should stop looking back and adding negative opinions to what appear to be facts. Instead, we should take a positive approach.
God tells us we should start reaching, pressing forward; when we are reaching, we are going towards something. Life is not a destination; it is a journey.
Reach up for the hand of Christ, He is waiting. His unconditional love restores us. Holy Spirit revives us, and we then stir revival in our homes, our communities.
Revival is not just a movement, mass gatherings in the moment, but a reviving of our hearts, of the withering things within us. Thank You Lord for this commission!
We have been revived to declare freedom, to tell society a better narrative, to stand for what we believe, to seek the ways of Jesus Christ, to bring change to the communities we dwell in, and to live on mission for His Kingdom, unde His will! in Jesus’ very name! Hallelujah!
And in these days of 24 hour news feeds, information overload (both fiction and factual) we know that the cultural conversation of our generation is one around freedom of choice. Whether through protests, social media, or Netflix documentaries, people are taking a stand on issues they believe in and are rejecting traditional beliefs and morals.
As a Christian, it can be hard to know when and how to participate in this cultural conversation. While some social movements are well worth support, others are less clear leaving people (Christians too) confused and silent.
2 Corinthians 3:17 NET Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is present, there is freedom.
Due to the fact that people’s emotions and identities are grounded in some of the debates about freedom of choice, responding carefully is key. Lets follow the lead of Holy Spirit, accepting His discernment and wisdom.
When we steer clear of hostile arguments that too often lead to fractured relationships, and instead choose to live and love in a way that demonstrates the freedom we have found in Jesus, the people in our lives, those we interact with, who are searching for true freedom begin seeking Him.
This leads to beautiful, although often tense, opportunities to share the real reason behind our hope and peace. Jesus Christ.
Because in Jesus we are free. We are no longer a slave to sin, to fear, or to the world. My friends our identity is unshakeable in Him. We have peace, we have joy, we have hope.
If that’s not ‘freedom’, what is?! From the outside, religion can look like a lifestyle bound by rules. It’s only when we have a relationship with Jesus that we understand that’s not the case at all.
Jesus is the freedom our generation, all people of this era, are searching for, whom all people need.
We have been revived for a reason! You have been revived to live in a way that invites others to know this freedom that is found through Jesus. Whoa.
