Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them,” declares the Lord. “But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares the Lord, “I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. They will not teach again, each man his neighbour and each man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,” declares the Lord, “for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.” Thus says the Lord, Who gives the sun for light by day And the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night, Who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar; The Lord of hosts is His name. Jeremiah 31:31-35 NASB
Christmas celebrates God’s new covenant, it is a time of celebrating the first coming of Jesus the Christ with the birth of Jesus among His people and the anticipation of His return. Be warned. Jesus is returning. It could be in 2 hours or twenty years. We will not know the time or day thus we are to accept Him today and live every moment as if He is at the door. The precious baby born in a manger. Jesus Christ crucified yet defeating death. The prince of peace, the only One who will fulfill the longing in our hearts.
We pray all who are joining us at Gospel Garage be given grace from God to believe that God the Father sent forth His Son into this world in human form in order to save our sinful humanity from sin, death, and hell. This is the message of the Gospel, read through the Christmas season in many churches.
Galatians 4:3-6 NASB So also we, while we were children, were held in bondage under the elemental things of the world. But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons and daughters. Because you are His children, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”
In a world where life is expendable; principles are disposable, our sophistication seems like a sham; our civilization surrounds us like an eggshell, ready to crack at the slightest touch. No wonder many approach the new year with fear.
But it need not be that way. God, and those who live for the Savior, see life and tomorrow differently. As we brace for the new year ahead may we be God’s sons and daughters who will pray in the name of Jesus for His light and joy in the sorrow and darkness.
As we turn over another page on the calendar lets fix our eyes on Him once more. The Lord of creation, Jesus the One we must all turn to and follow. Don’t walk away from the Lord but come closer to be rescued, sanctified, saved.
1 Thessalonians 1:1-10 NASB ”Paul and Silvanus and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace. We give thanks to God always for all of you, making mention of you in our prayers; constantly bearing in mind your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of our God and Father, knowing, brethren beloved by God, His choice of you; for our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction; just as you know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake. You also became imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much tribulation with the joy of the Holy Spirit, so that you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia. For the word of the Lord has sounded forth from you, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith toward God has gone forth, so that we have no need to say anything. For they themselves report about us what kind of a reception we had with you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve a living and true God, and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, that is Jesus, who rescues us from the wrath to come.“
All that has been hidden will be revealed by the light of God. When we contemplate the new heavens and new earth that the book of Revelation gives us a glimpse of, think of the brightest and most beautifully lit place our eyes will ever see. Behold our God, seated on His throne, come let us adore Him! All the internal darkness our hearts have been immersed in will be lifted and replaced with the beautiful covering of God. Amazing grace!
