The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26 NET
Never put yourself in front of your circumstances and say, “I’m going to be my own providence here; I will watch this closely, or protect myself from that.” All your circumstances are in the hand of God, and therefore you don’t ever have to think they are unnatural or unique.
Your part in intercessory prayer is not to agonize over how to intercede, but to use the everyday circumstances and people God puts around you by His providence to bring them before His throne, and to allow the Spirit in you the opportunity to intercede for them. In this way God is going to touch the whole world with His saints.
Are we making Holy Spirit’s work difficult by being vague and unsure in our prayers, or by trying to do His work for Him? We must do the human side of intercession— utilizing the circumstances in which we find ourselves and the people who surround us. We must keep our conscious life as a sacred place for Holy Spirit. Then as we lift different people to God through prayer, Holy Spirit intercedes for them.
The apostle Peter was once sprung out of prison by an angel who infiltrated perimeter security, cut the chains right off Peter's wrists, and led him out. Did he go home after that? No. Where, then, did he go? He immediately went to find his friends who had been so worried about Peter that they were gathered together praying. God loves when we pray not only for other people but with other people, because it helps us pay attention to other people's needs. Faithful in prayer, they saw prayers answered when he came through their doors as a stunning and direct answer to their group intercessions.
Can you imagine that moment!!
