But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. And Holy Spirit, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged. “I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you. Jesus calls us His people, He has sent Holy Spirit. When we acknowledge and declare that Jesus Christ is the risen king, Holy Spirit will dwell within our hearts, our minds, within our lives. Not to make our walk here easy but to guide us on the right road, salvation, to God’s eternal kingdom. Sanctification. Our rescue doesn't mean we will not struggle anymore. On the contrary, because we have chosen to surrender to God, live for Jesus, follow Holy Spirit’s direction in our careers, hobbies, families, we will face trials and temptations.
Because of this life’s testings We each need the convicting presence of Holy Spirit to take us by the hand and walk us through repentance of sin, restoration and forgiveness that restores our relationship with God. And then we get to show the world The greatest evidence of Holy Spirit as we are constantly willing to submit ourselves to the Lordship of Christ and allow Him to change the things in our life that do not bring honor to Him.
Holy Spirit, oh come Holy Spirit, remind us of our first love, Jesus, come Holy Spirit lead us through the twists, turns, and challenges of this adventurous life You have mapped out.
The Bible teaches in Romans 8:12-17 NASBSo then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh— for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by Holy Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” Holy Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.
As children of the Most High God, Holy Spirit is withinus. No child of God is exempt from the presence of the Spirit but all too often we do not see Him, hear Him, we blot out His wisdom, His power. God has given Holy Spirit because we need Him. He loves us. May we learn how we can better discover and receive reconciliation with our Heavenly Father that we’ve all been granted through Christ with Holy Spirit.
How can we learn? We must prayerfully, daily, read the Bible. it’s crucial to acknowledge that Holy Spirit and the word of God work perfectly together. One does not contradict the other. Both Holy Spirit and the Bible are vital in living for Christ.
Galatians 5:25-26 NASB If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.
It all starts with spending time getting to know what Holy Spirit is like. He is a person. He has a voice. He is God. His presence feels a certain way. And the absolute best way to learn about Him is one-on-one. Often we wait until we are in a public setting or right before a highly stressful situation to ask for the presence and guidance of Holy Spirit. But we need Him now. every moment. Its deep within us that we learn what His voice sounds like and His leading feels like so that we can discern His guidance out in the rush and stress of the world. It’s in the places of personal prayer, bible reading and singing praise that we grow in our relationship with Holy Spirit so that we will follow His steps throughout the twists and turns of our day.
John 14:16-17 NASB And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. Yet You know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
Holy Spirit’s gift of wonderful transformation results when we discover the wealth of love that comes with continual, real friendship with Jesus. In unity with God comes peace, security, honesty, healing, and freedom. By God’s grace, we have been filled with God Himself. We have dwelling within us the same Spirit who authored Scripture, raised Jesus Christ from the dead, empowered the disciples, and hovered over the waters at the creation of all things. And Scripture says that He longs to help you! To help us! Hallelujah!
Jesus calls Holy Spirit the “Helper.” How incredible is the grace of our God to offer us a relationship with Him, Holy Spirit? How great is God’s love that He would send He Son to die that we might have abundant life for all of eternity, including right now!
