For You light my lamp; The Lord my God illumines my darkness. Psalms 18:28 NASB
God first. Above all power, above all nations, above all people. Holy Spirit helps us to remember that life is simply not about us. It is about God Jesus Christ Holy Spirit — He is all that is, all that was, and all that will be. But when we wander about seeking comfort from the world’s offerings, expecting wholeness from others, we will be trapped and stagnant. Looking to plan our own walk without God is the thing that makes our lives messy and our relationships conflicted. It is what sidetracks our thoughts and kidnaps our desires.
The arrival of a new year brings a great opportunity to renew our faith and love for Jesus Christ. It's also a wonderful time to renew the joy of salvation in our hearts as a new creation in Christ. "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come".
Whether this past year brought you success, fulfillment, and joy or you faced grief, setbacks, and struggle, we can look ahead together to the new year with hope.
Let us end this year with a thankful heart and start the new year with peace and faith. Let us release the bitterness and frustrations of the past. Let us move into 2023 knowing that God loves us and wants the best for us. Let's pray that the new year will be focused on healing through repentance and renewing our minds daily with prayerfully reading the Bible. We can bring the light of hope, Jesus Christ, into our own hearts, home, and world.
