For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. Romans 5:6-10 NASB
We're do not need to be afraid of death. We won't force it. We won't run away from it. And when it happens, we know there is hope. Jesus says anyone who believes in Him will have everlasting life.
Is your heart breaking over the current situation of the world? Mine is. That’s because for us, death is largely a headline, numbers are being reported daily after day month after month, fear being poured into people by world views, failing morals…..For Jesus, however, death is not an enigma. It’s simply the enemy.
We get comfortable turning to God when everything is okay. It feels as if God receives us with open arms. But when we are barely riding the waves, when we really, really need Him, when we are desperate, as our world is in this moment, sometimes it feels as if the door of heaven is bolted shut.
Who has not thought about death recently? None of us knows how much time we have. But we do know who holds us in His careful compassionate hands.
Think once more about Jesus’ view of death. For Him, death is not a mystery. It is something to be defeated.
Consider again His assertion before He raised Lazarus from the dead: "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die.”
What an incredible statement. It is the hinge of the miracle in the Gospel of John. He had already shown His authority over nature and demonic powers. Jesus declares death would be vanquished, broken, crushed, killed forever.
Hallelujah!
The glory of God is found in acknowledging Jesus as the Son of God. He is the resurrection and the life. It is written that we might believe and live. If you are a believer in the Lord Jesus, I want you to be confident in our Savior, He is all that is all that was all that will be.
