We Are Not So Different

For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall, by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace, and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity.  Ephesians 2:14-16 NASB

All around us there are barriers, borders, walls, and labels that have been created to divide and destroy, using the color of our skin, languages we speak, nations we were born in, political affiliation to take our identity away from who Christ sees us as - and it is a sombre realization to have our personal health choices as the latest rift in this world that the enemy is using, dividing and creating walls of separation and hostility and distrust between us. All around us, every day, for even the most insignificant things, these barriers cause us to wage war against one another. But that is not God’s kingdom! 

We must praise God! Thank You Jesus for coming to tear down every wall and unite us with You as one people under one accord with one heart and one mission! 

Each of us, God’s created, our neighbor who is in a different income bracket, our coworkers who hold different political beliefs, our family members whose lifestyles we don’t agree with . . . they’re not so different from any of us. We are born we live we pass on. 

Every generation before us, all God’s people alive today, tomorrow, all are the people Jesus came for, died for, and calls home to Him. 

They’re not our enemies! We are not their enemy. Let’s erase the lines the enemy draws in the sand, reach across the fence with an outstretched hand, and share the good news of Jesus, because He commands it!
