And He called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases. And He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to perform healing. And He said to them, Take nothing for your journey, neither a staff, nor a bag, nor bread, nor money; and do not even have two tunics apiece. Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that city. And as for those who do not receive you, as you go out from that city, shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them. Luke 9:1-5 NASB
When we live our lives with Jesus first it changes our perspective and then proceeds to change our path. We no longer live for ourselves but for God and for people. We don’t hoard up things (the gospel grace truth love empathy compassion understanding healing hope) for ourselves but are ready to give it away to those in need. We see people through Jesus for who they are rather than where they come from or what they have.
God is compassion.
We are to carry compassion as a beacon;
Whoever He places on our daily path;
Unsaved turning away from God;
Prodigal on their way back to Jesus;
Lost and searching;
Broken….
PRAYER. WORSHIP. COMPASSION!
Acts 4:29-31 NASB And now, Lord, take note of their threats, and grant that Your bond-servants may speak Your word with all confidence, while You extend Your hand to heal, and signs and wonders take place through the name of Your holy servant Jesus.” And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness.
My friends, Boldness in witness is not determined by our personality or education, but by the degree to which we yield to the boldness of Holy Spirit. It is Holy Spirit who is the evangelist. He is confirming God’s Word with signs and demonstrations of God’s power. Prayer yields our lives to the work of Holy Spirit and fills us with breath as we cry out to God and unless we cry out to God in our need we will be limited by our own resources. Once we experience God’s resources of love, boldness, wisdom compassion and strength, we no longer rely on ourselves.
