Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing His will, and may He work in us what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:20-21 NIV

{tweetme}We are called to pursue Jesus Christ and His righteousness, meaning that we are justified, declared righteous because we have had our sins cleansed by Him. {/tweetme}Furthermore, God calls each believer to the purpose of proclaiming the Gospel with our lips; spoken and written word, and with our lives; action and deeds. When we do so, God is pleased.

But as much as God loves it when we do this, the enemy hates it, the flesh resists it, and the world is repulsed by it. So we must be ready to proclaim the word of God, to speak and share the true Gospel from the Bible, and stand firm in our faith.  In Mark 2 Jesus is teaching why He came. To the surprise of many at that time, it wasn’t so that He could hang out with the spiritually stable or prominent religious leaders. It was so that He could get into the messy business of compassion and serving the down and out. Jesus came to relate to the broken, sick, and lost to lead them to eternity.

Mark 2:17 NIV tells us “Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”  In this one verse, we are being challenged as believers to do the same as Jesus and we call it witnessing. It’s the very core of our mission on Earth. Many often ask what their purpose is, and if that’s you, start with this verse. Go out there and be a witness for Christ. We can be open to Holy Spirit as He gives us opportunities to meet with the unbeliever who has no faith yet, and the long time Christian who is disillusioned and wavering in their faith, or the new believer ready to share what Jesus did in His own mission on Earth, and what He continues to do year after year.
