The people walking in darkness see a bright light; light shines on those who live in a land of deep darkness. You have enlarged the nation; You give them great joy. They rejoice in Your presence as harvesters rejoice; as warriors celebrate when they divide up the plunder. For their oppressive yoke and the club that strikes their shoulders, the cudgel the oppressor uses on them, You have shattered, as in the day of Midian’s defeat. Indeed every boot that marches and shakes the earth and every garment dragged through blood is used as fuel for the fire. For a child has been born to us, a son has been given to us. He shoulders responsibility and is called: Extraordinary Strategist, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His dominion will be vast and He will bring immeasurable prosperity. He will rule on David’s throne and over David’s kingdom, establishing it and strengthening it by promoting justice and fairness, from this time forward and forevermore. The LORD’s intense devotion to His people will accomplish this.  Isaiah 9:2-7 NET

God, we are sorry for the times our eyes fall away from You, we need Your mercy, we too often get so caught up in the issues in front of us and so busy with the things of life during the Christmas season that we forget to keep an eternal perspective. Holy Spirit, help us to remember that everything around us is temporary—but You, God, are eternal. Help us to develop Your perspective by remembering that what we see is temporary. Yes Lord! Help us to fix our eyes on what is unseen, and in so doing remain focused on You, because everything else on this earth and all that we see is foggy and distorted. Help us to concern ourselves with the things that matter most to You. Captivate our hearts, Lord, just as You captivated hearts over 2,000 years ago, born in a manger, Saviour we adore You, help us to live like wise people who see beyond what is in front of us. We pray hope, we pray healing, we pray deliverance, we pray love, we pray rejoicing, we pray salvation, we pray revival, we pray forgiveness in the name of Jesus Christ, amen!
