The strength of heart that Jesus has given to us also describes a time when distractions are removed, a time when order rules in the place of chaos. It is a calm, inner stability from Holy Spirit that results in the ability to conduct oneself peacefully even in the midst of circumstances that would normally be traumatic or upsetting. Friend, your life is not to be dominated by your emotions or by the feelings of others. You are not to be tossed back and forth by the crazy events happening in the world around you. Instead, God wants you to be governed by His peace. That doesn’t mean distressing or traumatic circumstances aren’t happening in our lives, it simply means that even when they are, by the the power of the Holy Spirit, we will awake each day with a reverent awe of God, awake from our slumber with a hunger for the teachings of Jesus, and a joyful anticipation of His return.
