When you speak healing words, you offer others fruit from the tree of life. But unhealthy, negative words do nothing but crush their hopes.  Proverbs 15:4 TPT

There are as many invisible hurts as there are visible hurts, and we know that the unseen parts within us are often the the most debilitating of pains. In certain circumstances, we can endure excruciating physical pain; and yet we can be felled by one unkind word.

God tells us that sin leads to suffering and misery—and ultimately death—but that His way of life will bring the greatest happiness and most wonderful existence possible. When we are in a mindset of absolutely believing what God says, we adhere to His way— At other times, we may “know” God’s way is right, but we sometimes forget how absolutely real He is and that He’s right here with us. Consequently, we don’t take His warnings seriously. We may think that instant, gratification will make us “feel better”—and so we end up giving in,

But notice that a major culprit here is disbelief in our mighty Lord.  If we really and truly believed God—being utterly convinced that He, in Spirit, was always right here with us—we would know better and act accordingly.  But for physical human beings beset by weakness of the world and Satan’s toxic influences, such absolute faith lies can feel out of reach.   That’s why we must have a transformation of mind through the Holy Spirit—which is itself a gift of God by grace through faith.

Through giving us the Holy Spirit, God the Father and Jesus Christ enable us to miraculously share in Their sure perspective when it comes to how we should live. And the Holy Spirit also empowers obedience and increasing faith to obey even more.  Here’s how it works. When we purpose to obey God—impossible to fully do on our own—we step out in faith, knowing that we are not “riding solo".

When we hear the story of a dear friends car accident, we are astounded by their personal fortitude and the resiliency of the human body. But that same persons life can be devastated by a single viciously perpetrated act or word.

Scripture has much to say about the power of the tongue to inflict cruelty. The psalmist says that bitter words are like deadly arrows.

Apostle James wrote: “The tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body” James 3:5-6

We are capable of great victories and susceptible to great defeats because we are both strong and sensitive.

We really must apply sensitivity when dealing with the matter of suffering, especially as we consider the sufferings of others. While we can’t usually physically feel someone else’s pain, we can carry sincere empathy as we see the anguish in their face, hear Holy Spirit press their burden upon us…. And not knowing fully the magnitude of their anguish we must seek Holy Spirit’s leading and never minimize the suffering of another.

Scripture’s mandate to us in…..Romans 12:15 TPT Celebrate with those who celebrate, and weep with those who grieve.

Our physical sufferings express a great truth - our body is mortal, temporal and experiencing a challenge is one of God’s ways of speaking to us, of awakening us to our need of Him, and calling us to Himself.  We get to look beyond ourselves to find eternity - to walk the salvation journey with Christ and so really -  If our suffering leads us to God, it has become a blessed and precious gift .

I know we are indebted to the modern medical science that God allows for the tremendous strides made in finding cures for so many diseases. And yet pain is still with us.

Many of us know the reality of cancer, strokes, heart attacks, birth defects, auto injuries. Many of us have been bedridden and racked with pain for years. Some of us are shocked by the discovery of a friend’s or relative’s terminal illness.  Let me assure you that you do not need to face your situation alone. God wants to comfort and help us, stand with us.

Thank You Lord, yes, God has many promises He is not blind to our plight. He does not stand on a mountaintop, helplessly viewing the crash of mankind. He stands with an outstretched hand reaching for each one of us! Can You believe it! Wow! such amazing grace that sees each of us, loves each of us, invites each of us!
