If I shut the sky so there is no rain, or if I command the grasshopper to consume the land, or if I send pestilence on My people, and My people, who bear My name, humble themselves, pray and seek My face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. My eyes will now be open and My ears attentive to prayer from this place. 2 Chronicles 7:13-15 CSB
God can and will deliver us. He protects us. We look to Him and trust Him and He will reveal the deceptions to us. We will be able to discern what is truly of Him and cast aside the bate the enemy is trying to give us.
Let’s ask ourselves What about me? Do you know God and a lot “about” Him or do you know Him in a way that you are faithful to Him?
Is reading the Bible a good habit that we skim over the verse of the day or are we hungry for His living word - food for the soul?
What does everyday life look like? Does it look like the false teachers and prophets of social media, news media, or does it look like one of the disciples who walked with Jesus -not perfect by any means but faithful, constantly coming back to God with our sin, repenting hearts, prayer conversations and trust in His provision and promises ?
Wow! Thank You God!
Cling to the truth of God’s Word! Don’t be fooled by false teachings! Jesus’ return is imminent! it may be sounding repetitive, but it’s because we constantly need the same reminders and warnings. I have made the same mistake many times, so obviously I need to be reminded not to do that over and over and over again. We have a choice though. We can be put to sleep by the reminders throughout the Bible and ignore them, or we can allow them to wake us up to the truth that is being shared.
2 Peter 3:1-4 TPT Beloved friends, this is now the second letter I have written to you in which I’ve attempted to stir you up and awaken you to a proper mind-set. So never forget both the prophecies spoken by the holy prophets of old and the teaching of our Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles. Above all, you must understand that in the last days mockers will multiply, chasing after their evil desires. They will say, “So what about this promise of His coming? Our ancestors are dead and buried, yet everything is still the same as it was since from the beginning of time until now.”
There was a young man told of in Acts 20:9 who literally fell asleep as Apostle Paul was preaching, fell out of a window and passed away - Then in Acts 20:10-22 he was miraculously healed and brought back to life.
And I wonder, how often is that us? How often do we “fall asleep” as God’s Word is being preached, taught?
So let’s step boldly into the word and as we read the Bible this week, really take it in. Do we take God’s warnings seriously? Do these reminders stir something inside of us?
And if I’m honest with myself , I would say I have at times failed at this…. I have “fallen asleep” when hearing God’s Word taught. Maybe I felt like I didn’t need the reminder or didn’t “like” that particular Pastor’s way of sharing God’s word.
I am so thankful though that, “the Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9).
So even though I mess up, even though I need constant reminders and warnings, God is patient with me. God wants to give me chances. He’s cheering me on as I run my race and He’s doing the same for you my friends He truly is!
