Now the main point in what has been said is this: we have such a high priest, who has taken His seat at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, a minister in the sanctuary and in the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, not man. For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices; so it is necessary that this high priest also have something to offer. Now if He were on earth, He would not be a priest at all, since there are those who offer the gifts according to the Law; who serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things, just as Moses was warned by God when he was about to erect the tabernacle; for, “See,” He says, “that you make all things according to the pattern which was shown you on the mountain.” But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, by as much as He is also the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises. For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion sought for a second. For finding fault with them, He says, “Behold, days are coming, says the Lord, When I will effect a new covenant With the house of Israel and with the house of Judah; Not like the covenant which I made with their fathers On the day when I took them by the hand To lead them out of the land of Egypt; For they did not continue in My covenant, And I did not care for them, says the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel After those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their minds, And I will write them on their hearts. And I will be their God, And they shall be My people. And they shall not teach everyone his fellow citizen, And everyone his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ For all will know Me, From the least to the greatest of them.  Hebrews 8:1-11 NASB

Before the birth of Jesus, God’s people had overwhelming problems. They were surrounded by vicious enemies and worse than that the people had forgotten God.  Darkness, death, and despair filled the land … What was the solution? A new government, a new ruler, economic reform? No my friend their only hope then and our only hope now was and is Jesus the Christ.

It must have been bewildering to say the least - when Isaiah the prophet declared that hope would arrive in a newborn baby I’m certain there were questions wondering how could that be? More than a usual baby—He would be king. Indeed, He would be the King of kings and would rule the world. This newborn king would have four titles, describing His presence and power….

Isaiah 9:6-7 NASB For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.“

“Wonderful Counselor.”  Holy Spirit has all wisdom and understanding; life’s complexities that are beyond us, are not beyond Jesus, king of kings. Do you need wisdom? Pray and ask the Wonderful Counselor, trust in His guidance.

“Mighty God.” Because we have the Bible to teach us, we now know that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh, who chose to walk among His people.   Whatever the need, He can do it. He is powerful and gracious, magnificent and compassionate, mighty to save, He wants to rescue you my friend, it is time to choose.

“Eternal Father.” God cares for His children. He provides. He protects. He shepherds. He corrects. He understands. He loves. He listens. What is your greatest burden right now? Bring it to Jesus, trust Him with your life, you will not regret being a part of His kingdom.

“Prince of Peace.” The Lord can take your fears, your worries, your guilt, your hopelessness, and replace them with His peace. Repent, stop the sin that grieves God, do not waiver or look back, Accept and acknowledge Jesus Christ as the Saviour.

The ultimate solution to the needs of God’s people was and is and will always be Jesus the Christ.  Call out to Him. Praise and worship Him.  Take His hand and live....He will flood your heart with peace and take You through the chaos, His joy giving you strength to face the day.
