God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; Though its waters roar and foam, Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride. Selah. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, The holy dwelling places of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. The nations made an uproar, the kingdoms tottered; He raised His voice, the earth melted.  The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah. Come, behold the works of the Lord, Who has wrought desolations in the earth. He makes wars to cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariots with fire. “Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah.  Psalms 46:1-11 NASB

psalm 46 describes the uproar and chaos of the world then, over the past two thousand years, and even now. And yet when we ask Holy Spirit for help, He will lead us to a place of calm, of understanding, of preparedness, a place of knowing that God is still and will always be God. Mighty. Holy. Everlasting. To accept Jesus Christ now is to experience a foretaste of His peace in these days that He has created each one of us for.

Exodus 34:5-7 NASB “The Lord descended in the cloud and stood there with him as he called upon the name of the Lord. Then the Lord passed by in front of him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth; who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin; yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.”

This week and in the weeks ahead there will be so many world reasons to be distracted and so many theories and experts and scholars speaking out, please let’s each remember that our intentional time with Jesus, the time we spend deeply prayerfully reading the Bible is absolutely essential for living now - we cannot possibly keep our heads above water and be joyful, dynamic, and powerful Christians apart from a daily walk with Christ. The time is now, decide now! Jesus is calling Christians to repent of all our sins, He is open to receiving us as we dedicate our journey to Him, with all our love, trust and faith, with full surrender.

We get to reside with Jesus, forgiven, with full assurance that God is going to deliver the person who puts their trust and confidence in Him.  praise God! Because down through the centuries in times of trouble, temptation, trial, bereavement, and crisis, God has brought courage to the hearts of those who love Him. The Bible is flowing with assurances of God’s help and comfort in every kind of trouble which might cause fears to arise in the human heart. Because these could very well be the days taught through God’s living Word.

Matthew 24:29-31 NASB But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. And He will send forth His angels with a great trumpet and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.

Knowing that this is not our forever home God’s people can look through the darkness bravely, without fear, discouragement, or despondency - into whatever seasons the future holds, it’s moments of turmoil and hope, peace and loss that we are to call upon the name of the Lord.

Psalms 20:7 NASB “Some boast in chariots and some in horses, But we will boast in the name of the Lord, our God.”

Deuteronomy 32:3 NASB “For I proclaim the name of the Lord; Ascribe greatness to our God!”

Romans 10:13 NASB “for Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Psalms 124:8 NASB “Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.”

Brothers and sisters, God Hears Us. Yes! Keep that prayer conversation with Him as regular as your breathing. We are to pray in times of adversity, to prevent becoming faithless and unbelieving. We are to pray in times of prosperity, to avoid becoming boastful and proud. We are to pray in times of danger, lest we become fearful and doubting. We need to pray in times of security, so we will not rely on our own merit and becoming self-sufficient fall away from God’s Will for us.

God has placed us in our neighbourhoods, towns, villages and cities for a reason. He has revealed His great love to all creation, we can see His hand directing if we but look upon the face of the messiah, Jesus, king Jesus and He has already orchestrated great relationships for us to invest our time and prayers.

May we, by the Lord’s grace, continue holding His lantern in a place needing His light. Embrace the commission.

There is no better way to put it. God created this earth and everyone and everything residing on it. The very name spoken aloud, Jesus Jesus Jesus, fills our heart with hope and a burden to act on behalf of His people. Therefore where we are residing at any given season in our lives is where God has planted us. He may move us to another location. He may not.  But in every aspect of our time here walking Gods kingdom on earth we are to seek God, trust Jesus, dwell with Holy Spirit, ask the Lord of all creation to rule over our existence.
