Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. There will no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve Him; they will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. And there will no longer be any night; and they will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them; and they will reign forever and ever. And he said to me, “These words are faithful and true”; and the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent His angel to show to His bond-servants the things which must soon take place. Revelation 22:1-6 NASB
My friends, what a lifetime we have been born into! God is moving in unprecedented ways today. This is not a time when we can sit on the sidelines and simply watch. The church, (the body of Christ and each individual believer) has a tremendous role and responsibility in what is happening and what is about to happen in our world. And in order to carry out this role, we must first accept our deep need of God Jesus Christ Holy Spirit’s wisdom, correction, knowledge, His very presence within us, because every single day we need Him!
Darkness! Your hour is over! Hallelujah!
Yes Lord we trust You, we rely on You!!
When we have given our lives over to Jesus Christ, accepting Him, receiving Him, acknowledging Jesus as the risen saviour, we will have the only source that enables us to respond to outrage and wrath in a healing, productive, and life-giving way. Because Jesus Christ has loved us at our worst, we will love others at their worst.
Because Jesus Christ has forgiven us for all of our wrongs, we can forgive others who have wronged us. Because in the midst of incomprehensible suffering on the cross Jesus Christ offered a gentle answer instead of pouring out punishment and rejection for our offensive and sinful ways, we can offer gentle responses to those who behave offensively and sinfully toward us and others.
Before our hearts can be warmed by the idea ofradical reconciliation and peace, they must first be melted and softened by allowing Holy Spirit to rebuke us, teach us, correct us, encourage us. We must become settled in the truth that whatever Jesus asks from us, He has already done for us.
Ephesians 4:30-32 NASB Do not grieve Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.
By the power of Holy Spirit we receive criticism graciously, forgive all the way, bless our own betrayers, befriend our fellow sinners, resist our inner moralist, disarm guarded postures, and anything else Jesus asks of us. At the cross of Calvary, He confronted our violence with His nonviolence, our hostility with His forgiveness, and our wrath with His gentle answer.
Jesus is coming, He is near, He is moving in. Our world is clearly facing the types of crises for which there is no way out but by the hand of God, Only He has the answers. Just as the solutions to our individual problems will come by revelation from Holy Spirit, the answers to humanity’s turmoil will also only come by Holy Spirit’s revelation.
Revelation 22:20-21 NASB He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.
As God’s people, we are to be ready to receive Jesus into our lives and prepare for His return. We must make prayerfully reading the Bible a daily exercise, the days are moving quickly, those who believe in Jesus Christ must get back to the basics of His truth, relying on faith unseen, trusting Holy Spirit’s supernatural presence, the forgiveness at the cross, the resurrection, the power of God, the blood of Christ, and other potent spiritual realities God has unveiled in His word to those who believe. This is the only way we, God’s people, can stand firm as brothers and sisters united by Jesus, singing worship carried to Him on hands raised with praise for our magnificent Lord, all while ministering to the fracturing world around us in the cities, towns, families and communities God has invited us to join Him in.
Revelation 21:3 NASB And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them.
In the face of what is to come, we must deeply root ourselves in the truth that Jesus Christ alone is King and our citizenship rests in the kingdom of God that transcends all nationalities, races, and ethnicities. We are citizens of God’s kingdom before all other loyalties. Jesus alone is our hope, our provider, our security, and our glory.
The storm of Holy Spirit is breaking upon us. For the faithful, God’s greatest glory is unfolding in the midst of this difficult time. He is doing something and God’s people must wake up and get on board or miss it. We must prepare by means of repentance and a renewed hunger for holiness.
