This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:5-9 NASB
The realization of who Jesus Christ is brings us to our knees, to understand that we are sinners to the core in desperate need of God’s grace and forgiveness.
My friends, Holy Spirit does not make us aware of our sin and leave us to drown in it, He helps us understand that God has to provide the solution because we cannot save ourselves. Be honest but not ashamed. Trust the bending and growing with Jesus, He is teacher, healer, and holy holy holy.
Let His truth sink in. Holy, Mighty, all powerful, all knowing, all seeing God commands the earth and the universe meanwhile keeping in mind that He loves each of His creation and gave His life so that you and I could have fellowship with Him forever. Hallelujah! Let us run to His Light!
Maybe this is a clearer way of approaching salvation.... Someone who walks in the Light has encountered God, and this encounter withJesus Christ, the Light, shows us how lost we are in sin. God’s light exposes sin, and then conviction by Holy Spirit leads people to receive Jesus Christ’s submission to the cross as the most beautiful undeserved gift. The gratitude that is born out of receiving God’s love, mercy, promise of salvation and forgiveness of sin changes hearts and realigns our life to God’s will.
Romans 6:23 NET For the payoff of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The fellowship (closeness, intimacy, communion) we experience with God through Jesus’s sacrifice therefore not only changes our hearts, but our choices, behaviours, actions in the world around us become the result––the fruit––of our walk with God.
Walking in the Light creates an authentic, loving, Christ-centered community having nothing to do with hypocrisy. Once we experience the love of God, we will start forgiving those who have wronged us, we will remove gossip from our lips, and we will love as we have never loved before. We will get to know God personally.
Our good deeds will not come from legalism and personal glory but from a loving relationship with God the Father, for the glory of His kingdom and the enlargement of His family.
Can you even imagine! It’s pretty thrilling actually. Our lives will shine like lighthouses. They will become beacons of hope for those who have been trying to tread water in a bottomless sea.
