1 Corinthians 1:7 NASB so that you are not lacking in any gift, awaiting eagerly the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.

This year November 27, 2022 is the first day of Advent - fantastic! It is the dual celebration of waiting expectantly, patiently, for Jesus Christ to return while at the same time joining with generations in the heavenlies celebrating the day He arrived the first time as a child in Bethlehem and was revealed to us! Praise God!

The world waited thousands of years for God’s promised Saviour, and then, behold, He was here!  Can you imagine living in those times? Knowing the arrival of the One who would forever defeat sin and death, who became God with us.  Amazing grace!

As we enter this season of celebrating Jesus Christ’s birth, may we focus our eyes on Jesus Christ, our Peace, the Prince of Peace…..

Isaiah 9:6 NASB  For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

Let’s make use of this time of waiting, time we are given on God’s created earth, to tell a family member, a neighbour, or someone we work with that Jesus Christ is THE Saviour of the world.  And lets also look in the mirror and remind ourselves of THE SAME TRUTH, precious, magnificent Jesus was born in Bethlehem, God became flesh to dwell among His people.  Why? Because God Jesus Christ Holy Spirit loves mankind without measure and as the Bible teaches us He came to….

To Do the Will of God: John 6:38-40 NASB I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.

To Save us, Sinners: 1 Timothy 1:15-16 NASB It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost of all. Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost, Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life.

To Bring Light to the Darkening World: John 12:46-47 NASB I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness. If anyone hears My sayings and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.

To Give Eternal Life: 1 John 5:11 NASB And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son, Jesus Christ.

To Bring Great Joy: Luke 2:9-11 NASB And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. But the angel said to them, Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

To Preach the Gospel: Luke 4:14-19 NASB And Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about Him spread through all the surrounding district. And He began teaching in their synagogues and was praised by all. And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read. And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. And He opened the book and found the place where it was written, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, And recovery of sight to the blind, To set free those who are oppressed, To proclaim the favourable year of the Lord.”

To Reveal God’s Love for Sinners: John 3:16 NASB For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

To Call Sinners to Repentance: Mark 2:17 NASB And hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repent.

To Reign as King: Isaiah 9:6-7 NASB For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.

To Bring Peace: Ephesians 2:14-18 NASB For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall, by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace, and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity. And He came and preached peace to you who were far away, and peace to those who were near; for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.

Hallelujah!!

God has made it possible for all mankind - every person - to come voluntarily into an intimate relationship with Him.  My friends, this life has been freely given to us by Jesus and through Jesus. It can be so easy to forget that Christmas is about seeking, celebrating, praising and worshipping Jesus Christ. What would happen if we started this Advent season off by resting our weary heart in the hands of our beloved Saviour? Yes Lord!! We need You, we praise You!!

Matthew 2:2 NASB Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.

Let us seek a worshipful posture, with our eyes lifted and fixed on Christ, for it is a beautiful image of how we can live out the Christmas season. There is so much vying for our attention, tragedy, illness, disasters, shopping bargains, social obligations…. It’s easy to get distracted from Christ, who is the centrepiece of this season and must be the centre of every single day we wake up to.  He is worthy of all our praise and attention.

Let us come and adore Him.
