Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Philippians 2:1-4 NASB
HUMILITY. Wear humility. Don’t ever believe that our talents, gifts, abilities, successes and achievements come from our own might. If anyone deserves praise for those things, it’s God Jesus Christ Holy Spirit. There’s not a lot of room for misinterpretation in Philippians 2 and if we’re all honest, doing nothing out of selfish ambition is hard. …. but you guys, if we struggle with discontentment or pride the Bible has a clear solution on how to overcome it: Become more focused on Jesus Christ rather than focusing so much on ourselves! We must must not ever allow ourselves to be full of self importance thereby leaving no room for His glory to shine through!
Proverbs 3:5-8 NASB Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your body And refreshment to your bones.
DEPENDANT. May we never cease being fully dependent on God. Solomon wrote the wise words in Proverbs 3. Don’t believe the enemy lies that there are no rules. Stand firm on this my friends because there will be opportunity for compromise and resulting regret. Decide now to live what you know to be true – trust and believe that God has His people’s best interest in mind and He wants us to experience the joy of His presence, the gifts of repentance, redemption, salvation, eternity in God’s kingdom.
As we prepare to leave the house this week, my prayer is that we would continue to be God’s beautiful masterpieces – not in an outward worldly sense – but in terms of His character developing and dwelling within us. My prayer is that as we grow in age and faith, we each will be truly conformed into the image and likeness of Jesus Christ.
