He said, the time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the gospel!  Mark 1:15 NET

The Kingdom of God has come to earth through Jesus. His work in restoring creation is now in process, the Lord’s work done again on earth as it is in heaven. He invites us to voluntarily change our earthly walk and repent of our sins against God, declaring allegiance to Jesus Christ by walking in alignment with His reign and receiving Holy Spirit as He passes a restoring wind over our lives! Amazing grace!

There have been moments in my Christian walk where I have sensed Holy Spirit’s power through the wind of God…. (John 3:8 The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit)……and a time when Holy Spirit’s presence was known through the breeze in an office that’s windows and door were closed (Acts 2:2 And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting)….. and a moment recently in the middle of the night where the majesty and power of God was very tangible as a heavenly battle raged above resulting in a downpour and turbulence experienced by only one neighbourhood block while the rest of our City slept (Nahum 1:3 The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, And the Lord will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. In whirlwind and storm is His way, And clouds are the dust beneath His feet).

I understand the activity of Holy Spirit to be a work of convicting us not condemning us; of fostering unity, not division; of inspiring creativity, not repressing it.

My friends! repent and receive! We are not called to a life of mere comfort and convenience, but we are called to repent of all sin and turn to God, the great I AM - all that is - all that was and all that will be - we are called know and declare Jesus Christ as the risen Saviour, we are called to receive Holy Spirit’s presence, wisdom.

It is windy in our city and often I pause and contemplate how the wind actually blows cleanliness thru our streets or brings needed rain or removes damaging rain and taking it a step further the sensing in the wind the power and presence of the Lord - the breath of God - in times of turmoil we can sense Holy Spirit “clearing” the air of stagnant thoughts or pouring His rain over our parched lives.

Like the wind of Pentecost - even though it’s been several weeks since we celebrated that day - it has been on my mind this week - yes it’s July but we continue to praise God’s days and with a grateful heart for Holy Spirit’s presence (given because of the cost Jesus Christ paid on the cross) ….. combined with middle of the night prayers with Holy Spirit while the wind literally whistled around our little house reminded me that wind is a vivid metaphor for Holy Spirit in the Bible.

Holy Spirit blows the love of God and the humility of Jesus upon us daily. The fresh wind of Holy Spirit is blowing today with the same power it had on the Day of Pentecost.

Acts 2:1-2 NASB When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

As we navigate the chaos of a changing world and certainly shifting - kind of shocking / cultural norms, the wind of Holy Spirit is blowing.

Mike and I often talk about the work of Holy Spirit, He makes us aware that He is at work in the world, and it’s the job of God’s people to get on the same page as Holy Spirit, not the job of Holy Spirit to get on the same page as us.

Isaiah 59:19 NASB So they will fear the name of the Lord from the west And His glory from the rising of the sun, For He will come like a rushing stream Which the wind of the Lord drives.

The wind blows, we feel it, we sense it, but from where it comes, we don’t exactly know. The wind of Holy Spirit pours from Heaven and brings one fantastic change within. Studying the Bible it’s pretty easy to see a comparison is made between the powerful operations of Holy Spirit’s wind and the blowing of the Earth’s wind.
