And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus came to them, walking on the sea. When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.” Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and *said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” When they got into the boat, the wind stopped.  Matthew 14:25-32 NASB

The peace in storms is provided by Jesus.

My friends, everyone needs Jesus.

Everyone. He is the precious gift of peace amidst the tumultuous life each generation experiences.

Apostle Peter stepped out of the boat right during the middle of a crazy storm, and began walking toward Jesus on top of the water! As long as he focused his eyes on Jesus, Peter was at peace and oblivious to the stormy waves that were crashing around him yet as soon as he took his eyes off of Jesus and focused on what was going on around him, he became fearful and he ended up getting overwhelmed by the sea.

UNTIL he reached up for Jesus Christ and transfixed his gaze upon our glorious Saviour!

Hallelujah ! I understand that moment!

It’s surrendering our outcome to God, it is lifting our hand with strength of faith.

Our circumstances may not immediately change, but our attitude will and that is enough to find His peace.

We all have to let fear disintegrate and take a giant leap of faith to step out of that boat and Christ calls us to take His hand as we step forth. We are called to go beyond our comfort zone to reach the peace and comfort that Holy Spirit brings into our life.

When we do that, not only are we made whole but we then have more than enough to move out of the way - so to speak - and watch Jesus Christ use us to pour the same forgiveness, grace and fearless peace over the lives of those who need Him as much as we do - and in turn be a blessing in the salvation walk of another.

Proverbs 4:25-27 Let your eyes look directly ahead And let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you. Watch the path of your feet And all your ways will be established. Do not turn to the right nor to the left; Turn your foot from evil.

Honestly, the world cannot give us Christ’s peace, but it can’t take it away from us either.  Right now, in this moment we can too easily give up our peace in Christ by shifting our focus from Jesus.

OR we can just as easily speak the name of Jesus Christ out loud, rise up and stand on the waves of chaos moving towards the only person who can keep us afloat, the choice is ours.

We receive confidence in God’s presence, compassion for people, the ability to be peacemaker’s, so that we walk alongside Holy Spirit with courage.... my friends let go of all the futile things which hold you back and step out in God’s authority to joyfully receive the peace that Jesus offers.  Trust Him.

Exodus 14:14 NIV The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.

Pray with Holy Spirit, sing to Jesus. Read God’s Bible!  He is with us in the middle of the mess. We don’t have to fight for peace, no struggling for what is free because Jesus already won the war — true joy and peace are available when we are wholeheartedly seeking Him, knowing and declaring Jesus Christ as our risen Saviour.

Psalms 34:13-14 NASB Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit. Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it.

The bottom line is, peace isn’t a feeling, although it will affect our feelings - in fact calm within comes when we align ourselves with the heart of Jesus Christ, remember, the world will not give us peace, and we certainly can’t let the world take it away.

I’m praying for you, that these truths flood your hearts with peace that surpasses all understanding — like they do mine. Peace that gives us permission to live bravely.

Held up by God the creator of all creation, our holy Heavenly Father.
