I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. May my meditation be pleasing to him, as I rejoice in the Lord. Psalms 104:33-34 NASB
Open the Bible and read over some more of the verses about praising God with a heart that celebrates Him.
Isaiah 12:1-5 NASB Then you will say on that day, “I will give thanks to You, O Lord; For although You were angry with me, Your anger is turned away, And You comfort me. Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For the Lord God is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation.” Therefore you will joyously draw water From the springs of salvation. And in that day you will say, “Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name. Make known His deeds among the peoples; Make them remember that His name is exalted.” Praise the Lord in song, for He has done excellent things; Let this be known throughout the earth.
Romans 15:11 NASB And again, “Praise the Lord all you Gentiles, And let all the peoples praise Him.”
Psalms 98:4-6 NASB Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; make music to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing, with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn— shout for joy before the Lord, the King.
The more we celebrate, the more we praise and thank God, the greater our joy becomes. Especially in this time in history, we can so easily forget to celebrate because of the craziness and chaos around our lives but God’s word says that regardless of circumstance and situation we are to praise God for His greatness, power and work in and through our lives.
If we welcome the joy of the Lord as our strength, we become stronger in faith, more resilient as His people when we celebrate more, because Celebration is not a feeling, it’s not a moment and it’s not only for the good times - when we start to incorporate the celebration of Jesus Christ, our Saviour into our daily life, our whole countenance will change. My friends, we get to entrust our searching hearts to the Lord. And we must continually practice resting our wearied souls in the arms of the only One who can fight our battles and carry us to victory. Celebrate Jesus Christ. Celebration defeats victimhood, celebration defeats worry, celebration defeats hopelessness. We will be resilient in bad times, we will glorify God.
Maybe it’s time to take off the mourning garments, shake off the dust and throw a praise party.! Hallelujah! When was the last time your environment heard the sound of your laughter and a raucous praise given to God?
