Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey. Zechariah 9:9 NASB
There is no universal measurement for Christmas spirit. There’s lots of songs to describe the feeling. We all celebrate in similar ways: family get-togethers, opening presents, eating too much food.
These past few weeks, I’ve had moments of doubt- wondering when I’d feel the umpf Christmas spirit at all. All the ingredients didn’t add up. We’ve got less family we can see safely, less traveling due to some disastrous highways, less get togethers, less merry, less Christmas.
But I had a check in my step, thank You Holy Spirit! What if during those moments where we felt “Christmas spirit,” we were actually sensing the presence of Holy Spirit?
Galatians 5:22-23 NASB But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
What if, in that living room, we are flooded with joy and thankfulness, not because of nostalgia or a sugar rush, but because we are standing in the presence of God?
When we notice simple blessings around us and are thankful, no matter the current circumstance, we get to enter into God’s presence.
What if it wasn’t an elusive feeling of a manufactured hallmark Christmas, but is rather Holy Spirit filling our homes?
Because my friends it is Him! He is here with each of us and when we know Jesus Christ as our risen Saviour our life’s while here will be changed beyond measure!
Hallelujah! Shake the rafters with Christmas hymns of gratitude and worship!
