The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer. Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. Be hospitable to one another without complaint. As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 1 Peter 4:7-10 NASB
Jesus teaches a very strong exhortation concerning His Second Coming, telling us several times to be always watching for His return, and not to fall into a mediocre or apathetic place in our relationship with Him.
This call to alertness is repeated many times in the New Testament, please read your Bible! Lots of these verses speak to being ready and alert, whether Jesus is coming in our lifetime or not.
Many generations have felt the same exhortation to be praying, watching, and staying alert. We are living in a very chaotic time right now, and if ever there was an hour to be steadfast in prayer, and raise our voices in song to Jesus, oh my friends it is now. May God encourage and strengthen us with His peace.
Mark 13:31-33 NASB Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. But of that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. Take heed, keep on the alert; for you do not know when the appointed time will come.
Fearless is not easy. Trusting is not easy.
We wrestle within ourselves, not wanting to fear, but yet we do. We have loved ones fighting for their lives, we have lost brothers and sisters, but Holy Spirit, in His goodness, shows us the way to be on alert–not afraid.
God, the One who made each of us and holds our future in His hands does not give us hopelessness, fear, terror — no my dear friends! we are assured by Jesus Christ our risen Saviour - that He pours out power, love, and a sound mind instead. What a difference, right?!
God wants to encounter us. Let our motives be pure. Let our words be few. Let our worship run deep. Come, Lord Jesus!
When fear’s vices escort us straight into the deep parts of our thoughts, the parts that tangle us in darkness-we should and (have to) take notice. And when we do notice we must immediately call out to Jesus Christ! Reach for His hand, turn our eyes onto His glorious face, yes immediately !
