These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover. So then, when the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. Mark 16:17-19 NASB
God we stand in awe that You are more than willing and able to fight the hard battles with us. As we invite You into the process, dread and fear will diminish, and healing and renewal can begin. Thank You Lord, that when we have given our lives to Jesus we will walk in His authority, our identity as His people will be recognizable, thank You for the words Jesus teaches us to pray, for the wisdom Holy Spirit offers when we are stumbling. Amen.
These days it is all to easy to allow our mindset to be fixated on survival, on a roof over our head and the next meal - yet how hollow all that sounds and feels when death stares us in the face in our family, when it’s our friend, our spouse, or our relative, or when our community is rocked overnight by a storm that changes everything we know.
Friends keep your eyes on Jesus, the calm centre of the storm, the steady ground that we stand on. Rejoice that our life in Christ will continue in His presence after our body passes away. As we go about our day, remember that to live is to know Jesus Christ, freedom is living surrendered to Christ, yes! He is the risen Saviour! And when we declare and accept that we get to ask for His help to live in a way that glorifies God’s kingdom.
Isaiah 25:8 NASB He will swallow up death for all time, And the Lord God will wipe tears away from all faces, And He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth; For the Lord has spoken.
God has spoken. The Lord will wipe away every tear. ALL OF THEM! amazing grace! It is through Jesus Christ, that bitterness rolls away. It is through Jesus Christ, that heaviness is crushed and light pours in. It is through Jesus Christ, that darkness flees.
Give every aspect of your heart to God who will put death, hell, and the grave in its place. Surrender to Jesus, He is Victorious. Yield to Holy Spirit —for He offers a way.
Christ came to set His people free, to ransom us from the hand of the enemy. Christ came to redeem you. Me. For it is Christ who has the power to set us free from the cycles and bondage of the past and the now. He can remove the resentment, bitterness, struggles, and strongholds of the past.
Choose to serve Christ—the True and Living King.
This such good news - yes Lord! This news should remove all fear and doubts. We get to be encouraged with these words. As our faith is strengthened by the Word of God, we find that God removes all fear from our hearts.
Thank God that we can encourage each other with the Gospel, the truth that Jesus is coming again. When fear threatens our mind, choose to receive Holy Spirit’s gift of courage and the knowledge that when we accept and declare that Jesus Christ is our Saviour, He who was crucified and conquering day 3 days later rose again, we - His people - will live with Jesus forever. Hallelujah!
1 Thessalonians 4:17-18 NASB Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.
Wow, we really need this word - what a week the people of Merritt, and so many throughout the province have been navigating through! My friends ! Speak the name of Jesus!
Read the Bible, read read read the Gospels - Books Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, the powerful simplicity of Jesus’ teachings continue to be transformative, whether we’ve read them hundreds of times or just once…..
And then sit down with Holy Spirit and pray as Jesus taught us to pray! A prayer so strikingly beautiful that we are invited into personal, relational conversation with God. Amazing grace! My friends, may the following notes lead us to pray simple, expectant prayers EVERY SINGLE DAY!
Matthew 6:9-13 NASB Pray, then, in this way: Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
None of Jesus’ words were careless and this is particularly true of the Lord’s Prayer. This prayer turned the world upside down. This prayer is dangerous, overturning the kingdom of the principalities and powers of this world.
The prayer of Jesus is hopeful, expecting the kingdom of God to come in fullness with Christ on the throne. This prayer is compassionate, teaching us to call on God and depend on Him. This prayer is reverent, showing that nothing is more sacred than the name of Jesus Christ.
This prayer is good news, reminding each of us that God forgives sin and delivers us from the powers of darkness - let’s pray through Matthew 6:9-13 together
- Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.
Lord, we praise You, for You are God Almighty. We are thankful that we can always trust in You—Your holiness, faithfulness, goodness and mercy. You are sovereign, Lord. We declare the power of Your holy name over our world.
- Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Lord, we pray for the ways of Your kingdom to prevail in our world. Help us, Your people, to be ambassadors of Your kingdom, to be doers of Your will on earth as it is in heaven. In the face of fear, may we be people of courage. In the face of uncertainty, may we be people of peace. In the face of need, may we be people of action, compassion and love.
- Give us each day our daily bread. God, thank You for providing for us. For those of us who face economic uncertainty, we pray for provision. Help us to trust You, our God Who Provides. Out of that trust, may we learn to look beyond ourselves to the needs of others. When we have much, open our eyes to how we can share with those in need.
- And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. Holy Spirit we thank You for Your presence, and ask You to give us eyes to see our brothers and sisters as God sees them, to love and serve each other as Jesus does, to pray for each other with Your discernment as well as seeking Jesus in regular prayer.
- And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. God, please teach us the wisdom to walk away when tempted, and the clarity to see the way out that You will provide. Thank You, Lord, that You are our deliverer and that we get to count on Your help in times of need.
- For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
The power of Holy Spirit is given to all believers of Jesus Christ and His resurrection in order to empower His church in proclaiming the Kingdom of God on earth. If we believe that we have received salvation from God, this is the time for us to rise up, serve God and our neighbour passionately.
And that passion comes from within, once we receive Jesus Christ as Lord and King, Holy Spirit reigns within us, our lives will be on fire for the glory of God’s kingdom and Though we are sifted strained shattered Jesus holds us together when we remain in faith with Him - and yes we fail Him but turn back to Him the way the truth, His arm are open wide!
Hallelujah! With the name of Jesus, God reminds us that He wants to be with us in each of our tribulations, celebrations, decisions, and more, yes My friends, He’s ready to guide us on the path that He has prepared for us.
When we no longer know what to do, when we are lost, quiet yourself, calm your fears...and listen to our Saviour speak to you and guide you!
So wherever you find yourself today spend a few minutes in silence and then ask God to reveal to you where He is already working and ask Him to impart to you what your role in displaying the kingdom and embodying His will is in this season and the seasons ahead.
You are one in whom Christ dwells and delights. No matter the storms altering communities, changing the course of rivers, and wiping out manmade highways, we live in the unshakeable Kingdom of God, we speak the name of Jesus over every nation, we stand strong because God holds us upright.
Luke 21:25-31 NASB There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” Then He told them a parable: “Behold the fig tree and all the trees; as soon as they put forth leaves, you see it and know for yourselves that summer is now near. So you also, when you see these things happening, recognize that the kingdom of God is near.
God, we lift our voices to You in praise, in song, there is none like You. You are great, mighty, and powerful, yet You are good, kind, and just. You alone are worthy of all worship, because of what You have done for Your people, yes Lord, we pray that this week Holy Spirit would teach us to better receive Your discernment, Your wisdom, Your peace and joy no matter what our eyes see in the natural we know You are our bright horizon, We speak hope, we speak healing, we speak joy, we pray deliverance, we pray reconciliation, we pray love, we pray rejoicing, we pray salvation, we pray revival, we pray forgiveness in the name of Jesus Christ, amen!
