Now, dear brothers and sisters, let us clarify some things about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and how we will be gathered to meet Him. Don’t be so easily shaken or alarmed by those who say that the day of the Lord has already begun. Don’t believe them, even if they claim to have had a spiritual vision, a revelation, or a letter supposedly from us. Don’t be fooled by what they say. For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is revealed—the one who brings destruction. He will exalt himself and defy everything that people call god and every object of worship. He will even sit in the temple of God, claiming that he himself is God. Don’t you remember that I told you about all this when I was with you? And you know what is holding him back, for he can be revealed only when his time comes. For this lawlessness is already at work secretly, and it will remain secret until the One who is holding it back steps out of the way. Then the man of lawlessness will be revealed, but the Lord Jesus will slay him with the breath of His mouth and destroy him by the splendor of His coming. This man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles. He will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them. So God will cause them to be greatly deceived, and they will believe these lies. Then they will be condemned for enjoying evil rather than believing the truth. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 NLT
Wait with God. Stand with God.
We all experience fear in one way or another. Maybe you wake in the early hours of the morning remembering that you have a pile of bills waiting to be paid and an empty bank account. Or maybe you don’t sleep much at all because every noise you hear reminds you of the time your home was broken into. Sometimes we fear what is to come – an illness, the death of a loved one, being alone. There is also a different kind of fear to consider: many of us live with the nagging worry that if people really knew us, they would be disappointed.
Carrying fear blinds us to our forgiving, loving and all powerful God, I think that’s why we seek comfort from the world, things that appear tangible and within our control…. But my friends the answer to fear-less living is time spent with the Lord, dwell in His place, gaze upon His beauty and inquire in His temple. What we long for most is Jesus, in the midst of the fear-inducing turmoil of living life today we need to be near to God and to know Him.
Accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour, our risen saviour who conquered death and rose again, mankind is on the journey home, salvation, this is not our forever dwelling and When nothing is making sense we are to trust that God is and When we don’t understand what’s happening around the world - God does.
We get to Fellowship With Jesus, not rely on the world - I know that I want His companionship through life’s tribulations more than I wanted my problems to be solved. I need Jesus, every single moment.
Psalms 27:1-4 NIV The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident. One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple.
When we are feeling as if we are sunk, overwhelmed by the darkness that fear brings, we should ask ourselves what our heart is desiring. Are we longing for a seat at the table with Jesus, or are we desperately trying to find our own solutions to the problems we are facing? When our gaze is stolen away from the only One who can save us, our heart and mind become vulnerable and can be muddied by angst, fear.
God alone is our light, salvation and stronghold. When our eyes are fixed on Him, we can’t help but marvel at who He is and we are able to stand on the firm foundation His love and grace provides, even while the storm rages around us.
Daniel 6:7-10 NIV The royal administrators, prefects, satraps, advisers and governors have all agreed that the king should issue an edict and enforce the decree that anyone who prays to any god or human being during the next thirty days, except to you, your majesty, shall be thrown into the lions’ den. Now, your majesty, issue the decree and put it in writing so that it cannot be altered—in accordance with the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be repealed.” So King Darius put the decree in writing. Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.
Wow! Thank You God for the Bible, Your word that teaches us - reminds us that for thousands of years Your people have gone before us - covered by Your might - struggled, lost, won, stumbled and stood again. Daniel’s calling was to stand firm as a servant of the living God and give Him glory through a life of faith, worship and integrity. Daniel didn’t need to confront the strongholds of evil; they confronted Daniel as he lived in the power of Holy Spirit.
As God’s servants we too are called to stand firm and having done all to stand, we are to stand therefore. Waiting WITH God. The enemy of our souls wants to discourage us, harm us and discredit our journey for God’s kingdom, but living in humility and worship provides a place to stand that no weapon of the enemy can penetrate. The lion’s den was no match for the Presence of God. Daniel’s daily worship and thankful heart were stronger than its schemes….. we get to stand on Christ the solid rock and give glory to God through our very lives and active worship! Hallelujah!
