In these last days God has spoken to us by His Son whom He appointed heir of all things and through whom He made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representative of His being, sustaining all things by His powerful word.  Hebrews 1:1-2 NIV

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, speaks to us and sustains all things by His powerful word. Jesus spoke to us thousands of years ago as is recorded in the Gospels, and He still speaks to us today as He promised through Holy Spirit. We get to wake up and read the Bible! Thank You Lord!

Holy Spirit can be incorrectly perceived as quiet - especially If we take our eyes off of Him and look around us, we can see that throughout mainstream media and the entertainment industry, there is a common obsession, fascination and reverence for fantastic, bizarre, and epic stories of fantasy.

We love seeing these cataclysmic and otherworldly universes spring to life on the big screen or manifest themselves onto the pages of a book, pulling readers and movie watchers into an experience of a world that could be.

And though we realize that these stories are entertaining in nature, hiding in them to dismiss the fact that deep in our hearts we know we were designed for something greater leads us away from God.

God, we praise You for Your incredible beauty and how You chose to reveal Yourself to us through the Bible. We pray that You would open our eyes up right now to see You- yes Lord! open our ears to hear you, our hearts to receive You, Amen.

Wake up! Read the Bible. Open the pages of His grace His rebuking and loving correction His truth.

1 Chronicles 29:11 NIV  Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.

The living word of God constantly exudes the power and beauty that we long to see and experience, in the form of the glory of God.

In Isaiah 6:1-3, Isaiah the prophet has a vision of the Lord sitting on a throne, and like a rippling wave, God’s robe fills the temple. Angels are surrounding Him with their faces covered, exclaiming God’s holiness and how His glory fills the earth.

Check out the telling ofthe parting of the Red Sea and the crumbling of the walls of Jericho. God’s glory is the essence of His mighty power & beauty, far far above everything else!

Through the Bible these descriptions and retelling of God’s power are glimpses of the incredible destiny those who have acknowledged Jesus as their risen Saviour have with God in heaven.

Luke 1:1-4 NIV Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.

Lots of times — more than I can recall— I’ve gone to our kitchen island in heaviness or distress. I’ve been anxious or angry or senseless with worry.

With a prayer for guidance, I’ve opened my Bible, often where I left off the day before or I’ve tracked down other verses cross-referenced and made notes in the margin.

Sometimes I’ve gone to passages I’ve known for years; other times I’ve plunged into sections of Scripture that are less familiar.

Always I have found a verse that spoke to my situation, as though the Lord Himself were speaking to me, giving perspective and renewed strength.  And He does!  And He does for each of us! Wow Amazing grace! Oh Jesus how we love you!

Isaiah 30:21 NKJV Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right hand, or whenever you turn to the left.

This is God’s primary way in helping His people draw near Him.

In practical terms, that means we need to know how to find Bible verses so we can put our names in them. Studying the Bible isn’t merely an academic exercise; it’s a totally personal relationship. God speaks to us through the personalization of Scripture.

And remember too my friends we must do this wisely, following the instructions of 2 Timothy 2:15: “Present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” Finding and applying God’s Word requires the careful handling and diligent study of Scripture, but there is no richer pursuit.

We are sustained by the powerful word of Jesus. Our life comes from Jesus. This is a living word, alive within us through the Holy Spirit. The words of Jesus to us today have power to change our perspective of God, of ourselves and of those around us.

Are our ears, the ears of our heart, open to listen?

Why should we study the Bible?

Because God wrote it.

He used people to put pen to paper, for generations to read hear and live.

2 Peter 1:21 TPT  No true prophecy comes from human initiative but is inspired by the moving of Holy Spirit upon those who spoke the message that came from God.

God created the Bible for us.

Consequently, we can understand God's word, for this is His intent. God gave us His word to reveal Himself,

We call God's book the "Holy Bible."

The Holy Bible - the title underscores the Bible’s importance as God's book for us.

We should because this is literally what the title means.

Isaiah 6:3 NIV And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of His glory.”

Holy means "set apart," "sacred," or "divine." This word applies most fully to God, the Holy One (Isaiah 6:3; Revelation 4:8).

Revelation 4:8 CSB  Each of the four living creatures had six wings; they were covered with eyes around and inside. Day and night they never stop, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God, the Almighty, who was, who is, and who is to come.

Putting the terms together, the Holy Bible is "God's book."

And sometimes too we refer to the Bible as the "Scriptures." This word means "writings" and is sometimes used of the Bible for itself.

For instance, Paul advised Timothy that "all Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work" (2 Timothy 3:16–17).

The Bible is the "writings" of God.

I personally refer to the Bible as The word of God - Its a frequent way the Bible describes itself.

The writer of Hebrews described the Bible: "The word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart" (Hebrews 4:12).

The Bible is the "word of God" in that it gives us the very words of God.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

The Lord went to miraculous lengths to reveal this book, preserve it, and transmit it to us today. Obviously, He wants us to understand what He has given us.

Can you comprehend that! It's an astounding fact: the Creator of the universe and Lord of all eternity has written a book—and He wants us to study it!  To live by it!
